A brief overview of my new little Ruger in 357 Magnum. I do some test shooting at a moving Whirly-Gig target to verify this little gun will be accurate enough for self defense. I perform some 357 Magnum ballistic testing in a simulated human torso setup using ballistic gel, pork ribs, denim shorts and duck tape. I really like this little gun, it conceals really easy and will be great for summer time carry. Even though it's a short barrel and light weight, I find it shoots plenty accurately for self defense, even using 357 Magnums. The recoil might be a bit much for some people when using full powered 357 Magnums, but I find it pretty easy to use my self, granted, it would not be enjoyable to shoot a 100 rounds of 357 magnums through this gun at the range, but if you want to use it to target shoot, use 38 special or even 38 Special +P rounds, and you can shoot it all you want, the recoil on those rounds are pretty light. I have shot this little gun a bit more since I made this video and find I can shoot about 20 rounds using full powered 357 rounds before I'm ready to put it down a bit, and I can shoot 38 Special + P rounds all day long. With just 2 more times practicing shooting my moving Whirly-Gig target at between 8 to 10 yards, I have improved to where I can knock off all 5 plates almost every time I try now, with only a rare miss here and there, so despite what I have seen online from other folks saying this LCR 357 magnum is not an accurate gun.... I will have to say it's plenty accurate for self defense purposes... I'm almost as accurate with this little thing as I am on my full sized 9mm guns.
