Ruger LCR .357 Magnum - A Small Revolver that Packs a Punch Pistol – Compact Revolver Chambered in .357 Magnum, also fires 38 Special and 38 Special + P. Weight (empty) 17.1 oz. Height 4.50” Width 1.28” Overall Length 6.50” Barrel Length 1.87” 1 : 16 Right-Hand twist. Capacity 5 rounds. Front Sight – Replaceable, pinned ramp with white bar. Rear Sight – U-Notch Integral Grip - Hogue® Tamer™ Monogrip® Ruger LCR 357 Magnum Review The LCR series was designed by Ruger in 2009 and first released in 2010. This Lightweight Compact Revolver series is currently available in a variety of cartridges ranging from the .22 Long Rifle cartridge up to the modern .327 Federal Magnum cartridge. We selected the .357 Magnum for its ability to shoot the Magnum rounds in addition to 38 Special and 38 Special + P rounds, making the revolver an excellent option for newer shooters and or more experienced shooters who prefer the heavier hitting .357 rounds for the revolvers 5 round capacity. The grip and trigger housing are made of polymer and it has a monolithic stainless steel frame and a trigger that is rated at 6lbs. The revolver is double action only (DAO) as the hammer is concealed inside the frame to prevent snagging. The LCR’s constant force trigger utilizes a friction reducing cam that provides a crisp and light trigger pull in comparison to most double action revolvers. It comes in at a total weight of 17.1 oz. due to its frame being constructed of an aluminum alloy with a synergistic hard coating which is responsible for the pistols light weight and ability to evenly distribute recoil. Grip is maximized with a Hogue® Tamer™ form fitting grip that is also highly effective at reducing felt recoil. Shooters Opinion I found the LCR .357 to be a very well performing, lightweight and surprisingly stable revolver for its compact size. Recoil management is greatly improved when shooting in the 38 Special option especially for follow up shots or for newer shooters, with the option to up size easily with practice and experience. The Hogue grip makes getting a good and solid hold on the gun good for shooters with all hand sizes, while the pistols overall small size and concealed hammer make it a very good option for pocket, purse or deep concealment as a backup gun. The sight system is easy to get on sight and easy to see under poor lighting conditions. The longer trigger pull associated with the revolvers double action only operation will take some practice to get used to for shooters with a semi-automatic background. Shooters with a revolver background will find the trigger light and constant with its non-stacking operation. The LCR is the revolver that I would recommend for the experienced or novice shooter looking for a quality concealment revolver at an affordable price. Ruger knows a thing or two when it comes to revolvers and they did not disappoint with their LCR in .357 Magnum.
