The stunning finale parallel run for the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's 95th anniversary steam / diesel gala, featuring a total of 8 locomotives! (That's four per train) Official name: Jefferstone Lane Level Crossing Date filmed: 15/05/2022 Video filmed at 18:50 Route: Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway St. Mary's Bay Station Crossing type: Automatic half Barrier Crossing Locally-monitored (ABCL) Location: Jefferstone Lane, St. Mary's Bay Trains featured: Closest train: "River Irt" and RH&DR Numbers 5, 1, and 9 Other train: RH&DR numbers 3, 6, 2, and 11 Not much else needs to be said here apart from that this is the RH&DR at its very best! This parallel run involved two trains each hauled by four locomotives (two quadruple-headers), making a total of eight locomotives that were involved in the spectacular conclusion to the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's 95th Anniversary Gala, a weekend celebrating the narrow-gauge railway's 95th anniversary which involved lots of special action on each day, and even trains running throughout the night into Sunday Morning. Both trains were running along-side each other from Hythe to New Romney, each producing an insane amount of whistle noise! All locomotives involved are 1/3-size trains, something that makes this an already-unique railway. As two trains passed, the level crossing's alarms sped up. However, in this instance they also got louder, something that's rather uncommon. Apologies if my view of the other train was limited as both weren't running exactly side-by-side, meaning that the train on the closest track mostly blocked my view of the other. If you look carefully you'll just about see the other train's locomotives through the packed carriages. Thanks for watching!
