In this video, my brother ‪@TheRealTedBaird‬ and I paddle our canoes and portage into a remote chain of lakes that lie to the north of my cabin in Ontario's spectacular Algoma Region. We begin the trip only two days after ice-out. As always, at this time of year, we are in search of wild Brook (Speckeled) Trout, wild Lake Trout and Splake (a hybrid of both Speckled and Lake Trout). We hope to each land a hat trick, catching all three of these beautiful Trout species. The trip leads off with a long paddle followed by a challenging portage to reach a pristine backcountry lake. We camp out on this lake and enjoy a delicious meal of T-Bone Steaks and Trout cooked over the campfire. Pushing on the next day, we portage deeper into the backcountry reaching a large lake where I immediately catch a beauty and dine on all three species at a beautiful campsite that evening. The follwing day we are challenged by heavy winds and cold temps but manage to find a real honey hole and enjoy a delicious shore lunch.
