The procedures for Air Traffic Management (ATM) have hardly changed over the last 60 years yet levels of aviation movements, the environment and enabling technologies are now radically different. The talk includes the implementation of new technologies, from remote towers to space based surveillance, the impact of wind farms on radar and mitigating methodologies plus current issues with spectrum sell off and occupancy. There are plenty of stops along the way to describe to the technical & operational side in a way that is suitable for those not familiar with the ATM world. About the speaker: Philip has been involved in the research, design and implementation of sensor systems for civil & military uses for over 50 years. He has worked for most of the industry leaders both in the UK and abroad. Related work includes the IoT, EGNOS & Galileo, Airport Systems, Electronic Warfare, Drone classification & SCADA. He recently stepped down as a consultant to Civil Air Navigation Service Providers and military organisations.
