So, I'm excited to bring to you mine and Marco's first collaboration together, on a pretty iconic song as well. This has been in the works for a long while, but it took me some years to muster up to courage to tackle this song. We decided to work on two versions, a Japanese version and an English version with original lyrics. There are already so many English lyrics out there for this song, but I personally feel as though a lot of them fit quite awkwardly with the song as the translation of the Japanese lyrics is often taken literally and translated into English. I wanted to honour the theme of the story that the Japanese lyrics told, yet also bring the story of the game into these English lyrics, especially from the perspective of Tidus. While this is one of those songs that I consider to be almost untouchable, I hope that I've somewhat done the song justice!
