The game was developed by THQ Digital Studios UK and published by THQ, serving as a smaller spin-off set in the grimdark universe of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. It also acted as a companion title to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, expanding the universe with a fast-paced cooperative experience focused on elite Imperial soldiers. The story follows a group of Space Marines sent on a high-risk mission to infiltrate a massive Ork Kroozer that threatens an Imperial Forge World. Players choose between several specialized warriors from different Space Marine chapters, including the Ultramarines, Space Wolves, and Blood Angels. Each marine is equipped with distinct weapons and combat abilities suited to close-quarters fighting or ranged assaults as they push deeper into the heavily fortified spacecraft. Their objective is to sabotage key systems, eliminate powerful Ork leaders and prevent the vessel from launching a devastating attack on the nearby planet.
