It is the tenth main entry in the Metroid series and continues the iconic first-person exploration tradition of the Prime subseries. In this chapter, you return to the role of Samus Aran, the legendary bounty hunter, who finds herself on the mysterious planet Viewros after being transported there under unknown circumstances. The planet’s inhabitants, the ancient Lamorn, entrust her with finding a way home, but Samus’s path is complicated by hostile alien lifeforms and a bitter rival, Sylux, whose animosity toward her and the Galactic Federation drives conflict throughout her journey. The world is rich with interconnected environments that encourage exploration, scanning ruins and creatures to uncover lore and secrets. Samus wields her iconic arm cannon and suit upgrades, fights a variety of alien enemies, and acquires psychic abilities that let her manipulate beams and interact with the world in innovative ways. A new motorcycle-like vehicle called the Vi-O-La lets her traverse parts of the landscape swiftly, blending combat, traversal and environmental puzzles. Environmental scanning and ability progression remain central to progressing through non-linear regions, with upgrades opening paths and revealing deeper layers of Viewros’s mysteries.
