Silk Expo 2026 aims to give new identity to UP’s silk industry

Silk Expo 2026, organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to give a new identity to Uttar Pradesh’s silk industry by linking traditional production with modern technology and markets. The event, held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, provides opportunities for silk farmers, weavers, and entrepreneurs, showcasing pure silk products from across the country. Since the establishment of the Silk Department in 1988, state silk production has grown from 27 metric tons to 450–500 metric tons, with the Chief Minister Silk Development Scheme targeting 13,500 farmers and 9,000 acres of mulberry plantation over the next decade.
