Brooks Painter, Castello di Amorosa's Director of Winemaking, speaks on what makes La Castellana a unique blend of wine. Learn from the winemaker why this wine consistently receives high marks from Wine Spectator Magazine, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and wine critics, Robert Parker, Antonio Gallo and James Suckling. http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/ Purchase La Castellana here - http://goo.gl/OUQAWL From The Oeno File, Luxury Web Magazine - "La Castellana is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese and reminded a lot of a Super Tuscan. It is fruity and elegant with a massive core of blackberries, cherries, plum and tobacco on the palate, but it’s still a bit tannic with a hint of sandalwood and black pepper on the long finish. I tasted it accompanying a roasted leg of lamb; it was a great combination that paired beautifully with the Malabar pepper, oregano and lemon rub the leg was cooked." We craft each new vintage of our La Castellana Super Tuscan blend with the help of famed Italian winemaker Sebastiano Rosa. His family's winery, Sassicaia, laid the foundation for Super Tuscan wines in Italy, which now comprise some of the most famous wines in the world. Ratings ♦ Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (92 Points) - The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon La Castellana Super Tuscan Blend, 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese, is the best of this trio. Rich, tobacco leaf, unsmoked cigar tobacco, black currant and new saddle leather characteristics emerge from this medium to full-bodied, fleshy, opulent 2010. Seductive, impressively concentrated and multilayered, it should drink nicely for a decade or more. ♦ James Laube, Wine Spectator (92 Points) – Intense, with firm, ripe, vibrant cedar, red and dark berry, anise and loamy earth flavors, framed by chewy tannins and ending with a long finish laced with notes of black licorice. Drink now through 2024. ♦ Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast Magazine (92 Points) Winemaker Notes We craft each new vintage of our La Castellana Super Tuscan blend with the help of famed Italian winemaker Sebastiano Rosa. His family's winery, Sassicaia, laid the foundation for Super Tuscan wines in Italy, which now comprise some of the most famous wines in the world. Food Pairing Notes This elegant "Super Tuscan" wine goes well with lamb, sausage, grilled steak, Venison or a great pasta dish such as Pappardelle with wild boar (Dario's favorite).
