My main aim of visiting Kaziranga National Park was to see the Indian one-horned rhinoceros in the wild. Kaziranga National Park has the highest numbers of Indian one-horned rhinoceros in the world. There are many other species of animals there that one can see. Indian elephant, the Bengal tiger, swamp deer, the wild water buffalo and hog deer amongst others. I was very fortunate to see a hog badger, which is not commonly seen. The bird life is quite amazing and you can see some of the birds that I managed to video. I have visited four zones of the park itself and also the Panbari Forest zone. Unfortunately, this was a disaster because the vehicle that I had booked for the morning did not have four-wheel drive. There had been a light rain and we'd hardly entered the forest area and got stuck. We couldn't go anywhere because there was a slight uphill and slippery conditions. So that was a waste of a morning and the entrance fee and the driver as well. There is a wide variety of accommodation available. I stayed at Jungleciti House for the first three nights and then two nights at Kaziranga Address. Jungleciti House is in the western side so safaris to these areas are closer. Kaziranga Address is in the central area. I had a very good guide here by the name of Tyrone. Both very comfortable and very pleasant. Staff at both places were very helpful and efficient. Food was very average, they definitely don't cater for western tourists. All four zones have different things to offer and if you have the time I would visit all four zones. The far western zone was the Burupahar zone and the western zone was the Bagori zone. The central zone or Kohora zone is the busiest and can be quite noisy and dusty. The eastern zone or Agratoli. You can see rhinos in any zone. The Panbari forest zone is mainly for birding and I was hoping to see a lot more forest birds as well as also the Hoollock Gibbons. Unfortunately we got stuck shortly after entering. The vehicle I had hired did not have four wheel drive and the driver insisted on trying to spin it and continue so the morning was wasted not to mention the entrance fee and cost of hiring the vehicle. I visited the Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary on my way to the Jorhat airport and managed to see the Hoolock Gibbon there as well as the Stump-tailed macaques.
