Every category in badminton has its own fascinating aspects and differences that makes it fun to watch but also fun to play. On the highest level badminton is very specialized as you need specific skills for each category. In this video I want to break down a few key differences and show you my favourite skills for singles, doubles and mixed doubles! A few additional things about: WS: One important thing that I have to add here: The Slice becomes extremely powerful when it is deceptive and looks like a straight smash or clear so always practice those 3 shots from the same movement! Here you can find my Tutorial for Slices and Reverse Slices: MS: If you want to find some good video examples for amazing skills in defence I would look for: Lee Chong Wei (super fast and very low center of gravity), Kento Momota (calm and smooth) or Chen Long (controled and balanced) WD: Of course a good positioning and movement means nothing without proper racket skills. Also here you can say a solid defense is key, because it will allow you to play to the rear court and move the other pair without being afraid of loosing to many rallies from it (compared to MD) MD: I talked about serve and receive but also the 3rd and 4th shot are crucial if you want to win the first lift. So always have an idea what you want to cover after your serve or receive and also talk to your partner and tell him what you are about to do and what you want to cover. The Diamond Shape pattern is a great way to practice service situation as it limits the options but still gives both sides a lot of possibilities: This pattern excludes two very important options: the push to right and left corner and especially on a lower level the push to the backhand of the opponents is sometimes the most powerful weapon in the game. On a higher level these pushes can be dangerous, especially when you receive a serve that goes to the T with good quality. XD: Just like in WD I also have to name the importance of the defensive skills, especially for the girl. If the difference between boy and girl is too big in terms of defensive skills it will become to easy to score for the other pair, as they can always aim for the opponent girl from every position without being afraid of getting countered. - About the stats ---------------------------------------------------- For the stats about players that compete in singles and doubles I checked the world rankings in the middle of january. The stat about the moment when rallies end in MD, WD and XD contains all rallies from the Seminfinals, Finals and Bronze Medal Matches of the Olympics in Tokio 2021. - My Equipment ---------------------------------------------------- Racket 🏸: Yonex ArcSaber 11 Pro (https://amzn.to/3HAHBom)* Shoe 👟: Yonex SHB62 Z2 (https://amzn.to/3X8bQJ5)* -- How to support me ----------------------------------- As I mentioned I now have a patreon account as well as a Youtube Membership Area, where you can support me and my work with a small donation and in the future will get exclusive bonuses in exchange like: - Exclusive Slow Motion Videos - Match analysis and tactical insights - early access on Videos - Shoutouts on future Videos and Podcast Episodes - and much more.
