This video presents the footage of the Solemnity of the Dedication of the parochial church in Kiabakari on July 3, 1997. The church - built in the span of 3 years and six months by Fr. Wojciech Adam Kościelniak with the help of the Secretary of the Holy Father John Paul II - Mons. Stanisław Dziwisz, the family of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, the Archbishop of Pescara - Francesco Cuccarese, Sisters of St. Peter Claver and many other corporate and private benefactors worldwide - dedicated to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and Saint Gemma Galgani as a thanksgiving act of the family of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati to the Holy Father John Paul II for the beatification of Pier Giorgio on May 20, 1990 in the Vatican. The Solemnity of the dedication of the church was presided by His Grace Archbishop Anthony Mayala of the Archdiocese of Mwanza together with H.E. Rt. Rev. Bishop of Musoma - Justin Samba and other bishops, in the presence of many priests, religious and the faithful of Kiabakari and outside Kiabakari. Mons. Paweł Ptasznik from the Secretariat o State of the Vatican - represented Holy Father John Paul II and Mons. Jan Zając - director of the metropolitan curia in Kraków - represented the Archbishop of Kraków (my home diocese) - His Eminence Franciszek Cardinal Macharski. Madam Giovanna Gawrońska, the niece of Pier Giorgio, represented the family of the Saint Patron of the parish and the church. H.E. Bishop of Musoma raised the quasi-parish of Kiabakari to the status of the full parish on that day and appointed Fr. Wojciech Adam Kościelniak as its first parish priest. The parochial church of Kiabakari was later raised to the dignity of the diocesan shrine of Divine Mercy on August 17, 2001 by His Grace, Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto, The Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania, and to the dignity of the national shrine of Divine Mercy on October 3, 2018 by His Grace Archbishop Marek Solczyński, The Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania.
