House Flipper's Sunset Bay neighborhood doesn't have a library, so I decided to build them one. This project, like so many others, became WAY bigger than I first thought. Originally it was just going to be the House at the Azure Shore turned into a little neighborhood branch library. However, in order to make it feel like a real library, it meant having to move the restrooms and the staff room outside. Which then meant I had to build them from scratch. Doing the self-built Annex literally almost gave me a repetitive strain injury. Having to mouse-click so many times to build the two roofs (one for ground floor, one for second floor), and then click to remove each of the hundreds of composite slabs underneath to leave just the “roof” for each floor, left my hand aching and in pain. (P.S. Check out the Behind-the Scenes companion video showing the various stages of progress on building the roofs for the Annex, to better understand the amount of work involved. • HOUSE FLIPPER #30-b: Behind-the Scenes: An... ) Then there was the task of adding individual books and book sets to all the library shelves! The Annex "Tall Brick" wall sections* kept micro-shifting and falling apart as I placed items anywhere near them. (And yes, I set them on a layer of slabs and used capping blocks.) So I had to re-do the ground floor 6 or 7 times. :/ So it took a lot longer than I expected. The restrooms, Staff Room, and Study Annex took almost two full days to complete. By the time the project concluded, even my powerful gaming rig was chugging from all the countless items (due to poor game optimization). Self-builds like this are tedious and difficult, which is why I don't do them often. (Kudos to Débora Bonamico and others who do!) With all that said, I really love my little Bayview Library. Many thanks to the Steam Workshop creators for their amazing items, without which this library would not be possible. Special shoutout to relysa, creator of the “Emerald Green” and “Pale Blue” sliders used on the walls – the beautiful colors transform the look of this place. Also to YellowEyedWolf for the fabulous Outdoor Circular Staircase! For any House Flippers who might be considering doing a library, know what you're getting into. It's a BIG JOB. This project took almost 55 hours to complete. I think it was worth it.♥ *from the Steam Workshop - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Attributions: Song: MBB - Ibiza (Vlog No Copyright Music) Music provided by Vlog No Copyright Music.
