I wanted to play with the open space of this loft from the new Luxury DLC, and once I figured out the color scheme, it came together like magic. Connie and Brandon Lanier recently purchased this loft, which had been an abandoned art studio. They immediately fell in love with the big windows and spacious views, which “breathed air” into the openness – unlike their previous, cramped apartment. The entry space, which is completely private thanks to a card-only entrance on the ground floor, was largely unused, so Connie and Brandon decided to reclaim some of the space for a hidden laundry room tucked behind the guest bathroom. They almost decided on a small sitting area for the other side of the spacious entry, but then Connie thought, “Why not a small indoor pool with fountains?” Brandon agreed. Inside, they wanted an almost Zen-like air of serenity and relaxation along with a touch of elegance, which was achieved by using strong black contrasted by light wood tones. In order to not be too austere, their upstairs bedroom features a noble blue on the wall, the bed framed on either side by mirrored doors that create the illusion of yet more windows. A quiet home office is tucked into one side of the upstairs, with magnificent views, and a spa-like bathroom completes the serenity of the place.
