Rick and Cindy are doing a dry run of the great hymn "There Shall be Showers of Blessing this time. Rick requested this one as it is a regular that he plays for his hospice patients that he volunteers to see each week. That service has definitely been a blessing to him. Cindy is playing from a Joe Collins arrangement this time. There are some great harmony parts written into it that are so beautiful. Find Joe's dulcimer tabs at - www.jcdulcimer.com Rick plays the melody the first time through and then adds one harmony part of his own. "There Shall Be Showers of Blessing" is a famous 1883 Christian hymn written by Daniel Webster Whittle (under the pseudonym D.W. Whittle) with music by James McGranahan. Based on Ezekiel 34:26, the song was born out of a desire for spiritual revival, inspired by personal experiences of faith during difficult times. It represents a plea for an abundance of divine grace and mercy, often used to encourage hope and spiritual renewal. There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above. Chorus: Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need: Mercy drops 'round us are falling, But for the showers we plead. There shall be showers of blessing-- Precious reviving again; Over the hills and the valleys, Sound of abundance of rain. [Chorus] There shall be showers of blessing: Send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing; Come and now honor Thy Word. [Chorus] There shall be showers of blessing: Oh, that today they might fall, Now as to God we're confessing, Now as on Jesus we call! [Chorus]
