Are you inside the body, or is the body inside You? Every object and self — is it God within everything, or everything within God? 1. Is open space inside the temple or the temple inside space? Are both space and the temple inside the eye? Is the eye inside the intellect or the intellect inside the eye? Are eye and intellect both within You, O Hari (God)? These are questions pointing to the interdependence of perception and reality, urging the devotee to see God in all things and within all things. 2. Is sweetness in sugar or sugar in sweetness? Do both sweetness and sugar reside in the tongue? Is the tongue inside the mind or the mind inside the tongue? Are tongue and mind both within You? Here the poet uses ordinary sense experiences (taste, mind) to show that our senses and thoughts are gifts within the divine frame. 3. Is fragrance in the flower, or the flower in the fragrance? Do both fragrance and flower reside in the sense of smell? O incomparable Lord Adikeshava of Kaginele (a name/epithet of Krishna), Breath, life and all existence — all are within you! The final lines exalt God as the ultimate reality — everything that exists happens or is perceived, exists within the Divine
