Took some friends up for a typical morning in Hawai'i. We departed Honolulu's Bravo airspace on the Freeway 4 departure eastbound (common eastbound VFR departure) and picked up our flight following on our way to Molokai. It was a pretty calm day in the channel with a scattered layer which kept us pretty low. The southern and western parts of Molokai were clear and create a great opportunity to show Lawton and Brie the landscape. We were planning on circling the island starting on the northwestern tip and had to turn around about ten miles to the east of Kalaupapa due to heavy showers and low ceilings. Molokai tower gave us a south bound transition to head over to Lanai for the shipwrecks. The channel in between Molokai and Lanai was calmer than most days. We did a couple turns around both wrecks and picked up our usual IFR clearance back into Honolulu: JULLE5 Arrival. From there we shot the ILS Y 4R approach into PHNL and called it a day. Always seems like we learn something new each flight which makes us come back siked to do it again. Where to next?
