I have owned this first generation Lenovo Smart Clock with Google Assistant since I was in 5th grade. I used to use it as a smart speaker, but I have lost interest in that. And now I pretty much use it as an alarm clock now. And for the past 7 years I have owned it, it’s worked great. But recently it’s been having issues. The weather clock face has been going in and out. And most fatally I can’t recall it going off the morning I recorded this video. The reason I held onto to this as a basic alarm clock is because of 4 reasons. The time is set automatically over the network. I can set schedules for alarms so I don’t have to ever mess with the device. I can see the weather on it. And I can use the “stop” voice command. But as of late, the weather widget has being going in and out. And again I cannot remember hearing my alarm on here going off this morning. I find it weird because apparently Gemini has been added to some Lenovo Smart Clocks or something according to sure rumors to either google home subreddit or a news article, can’t remember which one. I own the second generation clock at my other location, so maybe I will see if these issues are resolved over there. I don’t know if this is just a me issue or not. I doubt it’s just me because I have not made any changes to it or my network in awhile. And it’s a discontinued device. If anyone has had issues and is watching please leave a comment. While Lenovo as new Alexa based models now, I gate Amazon. And while there are other google smart displays, they are way too advanced for what I need for a basic alarm clock. As such, if I cannot find a basic alarm clock with all these features, which I probably cannot, I’ll have to make a custom one with a Raspberry Pi. Which is something I can do over a weekend, but for something like an alarm clock, I don’t want a hobby project. I want something that plain works. It’s an alarm clock for crying out loud.
