Today, let’s prepare a delicious and aromatic Bendekayi Saaru (Okra Sambar) in traditional Karnataka style. This easy homemade sambar is perfect with rice, dosa, idli, or chapati. Made with simple ingredients, this recipe is healthy, tasty, and ideal for everyday meals. If you like this recipe, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to our channel 😊 Ingredients: 200 g okra (lady finger), chopped ½ cup toor dal (cooked and mashed) 1 onion, finely chopped 1 tomato, chopped Small lemon-sized tamarind 2 tsp sambar powder ¼ tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste 2 tsp oil 1 tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp cumin seeds 2 dried red chilies Few curry leaves Coriander leaves for garnish Method: Cook the toor dal in a pressure cooker until soft. Mash and keep aside. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the okra until slightly crisp. Remove and keep aside. In the same pan, add oil. Temper mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden. Add tomato and turmeric powder. Cook until soft. Add sautéed okra, tamarind water, and salt. Let it boil. Add sambar powder and cooked dal. Mix well and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
