Monkerai Road – The Best Way to Dungog

Mid-Winter Ride – Home from Gloucester The ride home from Gloucester went to plan — we started by by-passing a bit of Buckets Way and Stroud Hill Rd by taking Monkerai Rd which is a decent gravel and dirt road that has some sections smoother than the ride into Dungog. It started off with loose gravel and soon changed to a nice clay surface, which passes through the Monkerai Nature Reserve. Monkerai Rd also passes over the Karuah River on the 1877 built Monkerai Bridge which is the 2nd oldest timber truss bridge in NSW. We rode the usual route from Dungog through to Singleton and on to Grey Gums Cafè where we met up with Steven & Chris for a nice catch-up lunch, then on to home where the temperature was still 22°.
