We headed out to visit Whiteley’s Farm to learn all about Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb, from field to farm shop🌱 In this video, we meet Vicky at Whiteley’s, who gives us a full behind-the-scenes tour of how forced rhubarb is grown. We start in the fields where the crowns develop, learning how they grow from crowns to roots and then into sets, before heading into the blacked-out poly tunnels (formerly traditional rhubarb sheds) to see the forcing process in action. Vicky talks us through the whole journey, including the different varieties of rhubarb, how forcing works, and why the Rhubarb Triangle in Yorkshire is so special and world-famous. It’s a fascinating insight into one of Yorkshire’s most iconic crops. We also show you where you can find Whiteley’s Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb in our Farm Shop at Farmer Copleys, along with some of the delicious products we make using it. And if you’re heading to the Wakefield Rhubarb Festival, you can catch Ted and Heather doing a live cooking demo this Friday at 12pm! Some of the team will also be on the stall from Friday to Sunday, where you’ll be able to buy our rhubarb treats including jam, pies, and more. This video is part of our Meet the Makers / Farm to Farm Shop series, where we share the stories behind the local producers and ingredients we’re proud to stock. 🌐 Website: https://www.farmercopleys.co.uk 📸 Instagram: @farmercopleys 📘 Facebook: Farmer Copleys
