Demonstrates how to set up and use a USB-to-serial converter, and the stcgal program to flash new firmware to the STC15W408 chip in the clock kit. Here I'm using Linux Mint, but the same freely available stcgal program (written in python) can be installed on other operating systems. The clock kit here is the one with the DS1302 real time clock chip, the thermistor for measuring the temperature, and the light sensor for dimming the display at nighttime. The firmware linked below has several improvements, most notably the ability to adjust the going rate of the clock, so that you can tweak any error in its timekeeping down to less than a second per day. It also adds a calendar with auto-correction for leap years, etc. I demonstrated most of the functions in my previous YouTube video. Here are the links to the two firmware files demonstrated in the video https://ceptimus.co.uk/compensated60l... https://ceptimus.co.uk/compensated60l... If those files appear in your browser as lines of ASCII HEX numbers, each line starting with a colon, one way to save the data as a file is to select all (Ctrl-a), copy (Ctrl-c), then open a text editor and paste (Ctrl-v), then save as your chosen filename (e.g. clock.ihx).
