Round 1 - Yak Hunters Kayak Fishing Series 2021 I am starting to get a better feel for bream fishing with lures. It's signing up to comps like this that have made me concentrate on the areas I'm fishing and getting them to take the hook. I did 4 or 5 days of practice up and down the Georges and didn't settle on my launch spot until the day before the comp. 85 entrants for NSW Round 1. I launched around Milperra where there were no other kayaks fishing. Had my two longest bream after a couple of hours. Drifted down the river on the run out and then back to the boat ramp on the run in. Best bream 29.5cm & 29cm for a 2 fish bag of 585mm 34th place. Best flathead 510mm for 7th place in the secondary fish category. All fish caught on Ecogear ZX35 416 colour (black & orange) and the trusty ZMan 2.5" GrubZ in motor oil colour 1/16oz hidden weight jig head. Other lures fished for no result this time were the Cranka Crab 65mm lost to a snag after a few casts and a 130mm Deep diving lure from Jinda Tackle that I trolled to a spot and later on cast for about half an hour trying to get something big late in the day.
