Czech aircraft manufacturer LET Aircraft Industries is promoting its L-410 NG turboprop as a multi-role platform designed to meet a wide range of civil and military requirements, highlighting its short takeoff capability, modular configuration and low operating costs. The company, a member of the Omnipol Group, said the L-410 NG is a new-generation aircraft developed between 2013 and 2018, with serial production beginning in 2022 following Omnipol’s acquisition. The twin-engine turboprop is powered by GE H85-200 engines and is entirely built in the Czech Republic, with about 85% of production carried out in-house. “The L-410 NG is a completely new aircraft, not just an updated design,” said Thomas Novak, commercial director of LET Aircraft Industries. “The fuselage has been reinforced to achieve up to 45,000 flight hours and cycles without structural modification.” The aircraft features a redesigned wing using wet wing technology, allowing fuel capacity of up to 1,870 kilograms, depending on payload and range. It is equipped with a Garmin G3000 digital flight deck as standard, including autopilot, TCAS II, terrain awareness systems, and flight data and cockpit voice recorders, the company said. Novak said the L-410 NG’s short takeoff and landing performance allows operations from runways as short as 600 meters, including unpaved surfaces, supported by a reinforced landing gear and reverse-thrust propellers. The aircraft has a cruise speed of about 225 knots, with an economical cruise of 195 to 200 knots and fuel consumption of roughly 300 kilograms of Jet A-1 per hour for both engines combined. A key feature of the L-410 NG is its multi-role configuration, which allows rapid conversion between passenger, cargo, medical evacuation, VIP and special mission roles. “Within one hour, the aircraft can be reconfigured from a 19-seat commuter layout to an ambulance, cargo or special mission aircraft,” Novak said. The aircraft can carry up to 18 fully equipped paratroopers or be converted into a cargo aircraft using folding seats and floor-mounted restraint systems. LET Aircraft Industries said pilot and maintenance training is provided through FAA- and EASA-approved organizations. The company also said the L-410 NG’s type certificate has been validated in Malaysia, supporting potential civil and military operations in the country.
