This video presents an overview of the DeREC project—Developing Resources and Empowering Communities for Improved Food Security and Enhanced Nature & Community-Focused Tourism—funded by the European Union and implemented in Sri Lanka’s Central and Uva provinces. The project addressed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis by enhancing food security, nutrition, and livelihoods among vulnerable rural and estate communities. Watch how DeREC promoted homestead gardening, provided nutritious mid-day meals to children, delivered targeted support to pregnant and lactating mothers, and built local capacity through training and community groups.
