Fall Colors on the Moffat Subdivision, October 1, 2017 Part 1

October 1st, 2017 we caught the last 3 trains that moved on the Moffat Sub. before being shut down for the second week of the maintenance blitz. During the blitz, UP replaced wooden ties from Arvada to Rollinsville, concrete ties from Kremmling to Bond, and wooden ties on the Craig Branch. The first train we caught was the MGJNY, Manifest from Grand Junction to North Yard in Denver, with engineer Don Wood at the controls. We chased it through the fall colors from East Portal to Cliff. Check out part 2 where we catch an eastbound power move and loaded coal train. right behind the MGJNY was a large power move which we caught at tunnel 29, just east of Cliff. The coal train that was tied down in the siding at Rollins picked up a new crew and left right after the power move, so we caught him at tunnel 29 too.
