Cheap USB to Serial (RS232/UART/TTL) Converter Circuit using Microchip MCP2200 In this video, I talked about a USB to Serial/RS232/UART/TTL converter circuit. The most common way of converting USB to serial (Virtual COM port) is to use FTDI chips such as FT232. FTDI chips are good, nothing wrong with them, however, there is another option with Microchip that has offered the MCP2200 USB to serial/RS232/UART/TTL converter IC. The circuit has been tested, schematic and PCB are also available. To decode the RS232/Serial/UART/TTL data, I used the Siglent SDS2102X Plus oscilloscope. However, You can use the Siglent SDS1104X-E oscilloscope to decode the serial/RS232/UART/TTL as well. I prefer this MCP2200 over FTDI USB to serial converter or USB to RS232 converter circuit. So this is an MCP2200 USB to serial converter.
