Link to the SMIC comparison which made me decide to design my own • RX7 SMIC Intercooler options Using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) I am able to analyze air distribution to the cores of the two main styles of "U-Type" SMICs offered for the FD RX7 at this time. I discussed this in my previous video linked above. Due to the Cold side core outlet pipe needing to be run above the hot side core, there is very little space for air to efficiently flow into the far side of that core and without proper air diverters built into the end tank, it does not look like the rear (Hot Side) intercooler core is able to be utilized to its full extent. Due to the cost of these intercooler kits, I was not satisfied with the efficiency simulated so I decided to design my own non-U-Type intercooler but rather a Dual Pass Single core that should address the problems I found with the U-Type kits available. I will be following up with videos following some of my design and fabrication process with this SMIC in the future Applications used were AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk CFD for design and analysis of these intercoolers #ai #rx7 #autodesk #inventor #cfd #diy #intercooler #pwr #automobile
