Culture Connection: “Edmund White’s A Boy’s Own Story: The Graphic Novel” with the Authors

In this dynamic upcoming graphic adaptation, Brian Alessandro and Michael Carroll preserve the lyricism of Edmund White’s semi-autobiographical 1982 novel, aided by Igor Karash’s rich visuals. White’s coming-of-age narrative centers on Edmund’s adolescence in 1950s Ohio, with flash-forwards to his adulthood from the ’60s through the ’80s, foraying to New York City and Paris. We’re honored to host this Culture Connection conversation with Edmund White, Michael Carroll, and Igor Karash, moderated by Brian Alessandro. Edmund White is the author of thirty novels, memoirs, and biographies, including the 1982 classic “A Boy’s Own Story,” and the new novel “A Previous Life.” He is also the recipient of a National Book Award, a PEN/ Saul Bellow, and a New York Book Critics Circle Award.
