3:36 Masakado casually laughs off a murder attempt Challenge run rules broken: Grinded from level 60 to level 63. This is a really gimmicky battle, but it ends up providing an interesting challenge. I was surprised that I was able to win at level 63 because this is usually regarded as much more difficult than any of the bosses in the main story. What it really comes down to is having a solid setup to survive Sanat's attacks. I did have to get Flynn to level 61 to recruit Erlkonig and then boost them both up two levels so Erlkonig could learn Myriad Arrows to win on Master difficulty, but I decided that this would be much more interesting than winning on Prentice difficulty at level 60. Anyways, Sanat requires a really weird setup. He has 17775 HP and nulls every attack (excluding almighty) aside from gun, which he is weak to. However, exploiting this weakness is not necessarily a good idea because he'll start spamming Gaea Rage. Sound like any other Megaten superbosses? Anyway, Gaea Rage is an almighty move that has a very high chance of inflicting the lost status, effectively forcing Flynn to fight him alone if not prepared for properly. His other attacks are all physical or gun, and all of his physical attacks pierce resistances aside from repels. Girimekhala is my only demon that repels physical, but the entire team cannot all resist gun skills or that will cause Sanat to start spamming Gaea Rage as well. Because of this limitation, you can only have three members of the party resist gun attacks out at any time. For my team setup, I gave Flynn the Genke Rindo armor (repels gun) and used Girimekhala and Erlkonig, and reserved the fourth slot for a demon without gun resistance. For the start of the battle, that was Gui Xian, but about halfway through I switched him out for Masakado. Girimekhala is completely necessary because he repels physical, which completely prevents Sanat from using Deadly Fury and Javelin Rain, both of which are very strong full-party physical moves. This leaves him with only two attacking options: his basic physical attack and Myriad Arrows. Erlkonig is great for this battle because he repels gun, has high HP, and has gun attacks, which are necessary late in the fight. The last member of the team is the weak link because they cannot have resistance to Sanat's attacks, but that's not as big a problem as it would be for other bosses. Sanat also has a move called Dark Energy, which is his personal Charge skill and multiplies the damage of the next attack by 3 rather than 2.5, and Silent Prayer, which he uses if buffs go past +2/-2. I started the battle by debuffing Sanat to -2, then switched in Erlkonig and Gui Xian. At this point, there's not a lot the team can do because you don't want Sanat to use Gaea Rage. Flynn is the only attacker with Concentrate and Megidola, but he also has to buff the team to +2 and heal. Sanat uses most of his turns with his basic attack, but he also uses Dark Energy, which is always followed by Myriad Arrows. I think he can also use Deadly Fury and Javelin Rain after Dark Energy, but won't do it if a member of Flynn's team repels physical. Myriad Arrows usually works against him; Sanat will take a lot of reflected damage if it targets Flynn or Erlkonig, but it has a good chance of killing the final party member. However, that's fine because I needed to switch Masakado in at some point anyway, who is useful for Enduring Soul and Myriad Arrows. Once Sanat has lost approximately half health, he'll ask Flynn a question at the beginning of the team's turn, which awards an extra half press turn if answered correctly. This is when the team really needs to hit him with all they've got, because the next turn he'll start using Gaea Rage whether or not his gun weakness has been exploited. Flynn attacks with Megidola while Masakado and Erlkonig hit him with Myriad Arrows. Some luck is required at this point to have at least one of Masakado or Erlkonig smirk from using Myriad Arrows at the end of the turn. That will likely make Gaea Rage miss, meaning they get to stay in the party and Flynn takes less damage. I was lucky and both of them got smirks, although that's partially because Myriad Arrows has a very high smirk rate. Because of this, I was able to deal enough damage to take Sanat down the next turn.
