60103 Flying Scotsman | The Portsmouth Flyer - 17.06.23

Following her recent duty on the Royal Train, Flying Scotsman was back down south to take charge of 'The Portsmouth Flyer' from London Victoria to Portsmouth, via Eastleigh & Fareham. With continuous hot temperatures and very little rain within the past few weeks, it was expected that Scotsman would receive a lot of assistance from the diesel to keep back on the fire risk. Nonetheless, we begin at Clapham Junction as Scotsman crosses over the junction to head for Feltham. Our second shot would see Scotsman climb into Byfleet, where the loco firstly coasts, before opening up after sighting the signal. Note the white roof on the engine, which had been painted specifically for her Royal Train duty, as is tradition. Finally, having been held outside Basingstoke, the Gresley pacific is seen getting her train back up to speed, seemingly with her doing all the work!
