Meet Lakshmipathy, our cancer survivor who has beaten multiple myeloma. He came to MGM Cancer Institute when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer which affects multiple organs. He underwent chemotherapy for two years to get the disease under remission. As the disease got under control, Dr Gopinathan M, Associate Consultant, Hematology at MGM Cancer Institute, performed an autologous stem cell transplant also known as bone marrow transplant. Under the supervision of Dr Gopinathan, Lakshmipathy underwent a successful stem cell infusion. As the patient gone through stem cell transplant has a low immune status in the beginning, the doctors, & the nursing staff were quite vigilant, had meticulous clinical examinations followed by a proper diet. Lakshmipathy had a successful & miraculous recovery. He’s back to him routine withput any symptoms from his previous condition.
