Driving on the only major highway westbound from Beijing - China's Infrastructure

On this trip, We started from Beijing's West Sixth Ring Road and headed west on the Jingyu Expy to Huangdicheng. Jingyu Expy, which was fully opened on December 30, 2024, is a brand new road and the only major highway corridor directly west of Beijing. Jingyu Expy starts from Junzhuang Interchange of the West 6th Ring Road in Mentougou District of Beijing in the east, passes through Mentougou District of Beijing in the west, Zhuo Lu County of Hebei Province, and stops at the border of Hebei and Jin in Nuanquan Town of Wei County of Hebei. The total length of the route is about 184 kilometers, the Beijing section is 65.4 kilometers, which is the main part of our trip. The terrain along the road is dominated by mountains and hills. The geological structure is complicated. A large number of bridges and tunnels are laid to overcome the terrain height difference and reduce the undulation and slope of the road. There are 35 bridges and 16 tunnels along the whole line, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio as high as 88%. There are 2 tunnel clusters along the whole line, both of which are about 10 kilometers long, which are rare large-span highway tunnel clusters in North China and even in the whole country.
