In this video, I continue my resin geode transformation series and work through a stage that needed some calming and simplification. After stepping back and getting feedback, I realized the pink areas were overpowering the piece and there was no clear center point of focus. To soften everything, I added silver alcohol ink over the bright pink sections and a few other areas to reduce contrast and bring the piece back toward a more natural, stone-inspired look. Once the silver ink settled, I lightly reintroduced a small amount of crushed mirror on top of those areas to bring the sparkle back without overwhelming the surface. I also added another clear resin layer over the paint pour sections, since the edges were higher and needed more resin to level out. While doing that, I accidentally flooded some of the resin areas with rubbing alcohol. That’s okay structurally, but it may affect the final shine — so a very thin finishing layer might be needed in the next step. We’ll see how it looks once everything cures. This piece may not be a personal favorite, but this stage of the process brought a lot of learning, laughter, and joy — and that matters just as much as the final result. Not every project needs to be perfect to be meaningful. 🎨 Materials & techniques used: – Resin on a wood round – Crushed mirror glass – Silver alcohol ink – Layered resin leveling – Problem-solving mid-project This series is about experimentation, decision-making, and allowing art to evolve — even when the path isn’t perfectly clear.
