RNA modelling and design Speaker: Rhiju Das, Stanford University, USA Chair: Chris Johnson, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, UK Co-Chair: Maria Flocco, AstraZeneca, UK Rhiju Das describes a software pipeline to construct and visualize the three-dimensional structure of RNA from resolvable cryo-EM maps. The method combines technology based on chemical mapping strategies to determine the secondary structure of RNA which is fed into the program DRRAFTER to trace the RNA coordinates into the cryo-EM map. This approach has determined the structures of ribozymes, aptamers, riboswitches and confirmed the predicted structure of designed sequences. The discovery of a new RNA fold in the genome of SARS-CoV2-RNA opened up a potential new therapeutic avenue and the prevalence of RNA structure throughout other genomes.
