This Sausage in Onion Sauce recipe is a simple yet incredibly flavorful dish, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. Juicy sausages are pan-fried until golden, then simmered in a rich onion and tomato-based sauce with red wine and warm spices. It’s easy to make, uses everyday ingredients, and pairs beautifully with veggie rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread. Ingredients • 7 sausages • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp cooking oil • 3 shallots, sliced • ¼ yellow onion, sliced • 1 tbsp tomato paste • 40 g red wine • 50 g water • ½ tsp black pepper • 1 tsp coriander seed powder • Parsley, chopped (for garnish) Instructions • Heat butter and oil in a pan over medium heat. • Once hot, add sausages and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside. • In the same pan, add shallots and yellow onion. Fry until soft and slightly caramelized. • Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 3 minutes to remove the raw taste. • Add the sausages back, mix well with the onions and tomato paste. • Pour in the red wine and let it cook until most of the alcohol evaporates. • Stir in black pepper and coriander seed powder. Cook for 2 minutes. • Pour in 50 g water and let the sauce simmer for about 6 minutes until slightly thickened. • Sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot, ideally with veggie rice.
