On this episode of Trout Towns, were in Visalia California - your gateway to fly fishing the wild and rugged trout streams descending from the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Our first stop on this trip will be to the Marble Fork. This small to medium sized freestone trout stream tumbles down thousands of feet through the majestic Sequoia National Park. We’ll then make our way to a secluded section of King’s Canyon National Park known as Cedar Grove. Here we will tackle the beautiful South Fork Kings River, surrounded by majestic peaks and a beautiful glacial valley. While in town, we’ll then explore Visalia’s rich historical past, which dates back to the mid-19th century and the California Gold Rush. From being stop on a historic stage coach route, to civil war history, and even train bandits, this modern agricultural powerhouse has ample history around every corner. We’ll also highlight some of Visalia’s historically significant architecture, with several buildigns listed on the National Register of Historic Places list and style ranging from Victorian, Art Deco, and Spanish, just to name a few.
