📖 Bible in a Year - Day 16: Genesis 12–15 Genesis 12–15 marks a major turning point in the Bible’s story: God calls Abram out of Ur, promises to make him a great nation, and commits Himself to a covenant that will shape the entire storyline of redemption. Abram’s journey includes both faith and failure, but God’s promise stands firm. These chapters also introduce one of the most important statements in Scripture: “And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6). What we cover in Genesis 12–15: • The Call of Abram – Leave your country; God will bless all nations through him (Gen. 12:1–3) • Faith and Fear – Abram’s worship, testing, and Egypt (Gen. 12:4–20) • Separation from Lot – Choosing peace and trusting God’s provision (Gen. 13) • Rescue and Worship – Abram defeats the kings; meets Melchizedek (Gen. 14) • God’s Covenant Promise – God guarantees descendants and land (Gen. 15) • Justification by Faith – Genesis 15:6 as the foundation of the Gospel logic Where we see Jesus: God’s promise that “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Gen. 12:3) points directly to Christ. Jesus is the promised offspring through whom the blessing comes to the nations. Melchizedek foreshadows a greater Priest-King. And Genesis 15:6 anticipates the Gospel: righteousness credited by faith—not earned by works—fulfilled perfectly in Jesus. Welcome to Jesus Verse by Verse!
