Caroline Reckart discusses how brain activity and hormones affect our ability to find and follow our bliss in life. Through personal examples and stories, she explains that even when the brain appears to be locked from head injuries, or even cerebral palsy or autism, it does not have to be limited in it search for meaning and purpose in life. In her fifteen years of life, Caroline has proudly accepted nicknames such as nerd, geek, and the walking talking dictionary. She loves to write, read, and swim, but not all at once. She prides herself on being able to spend a full Saturday doing nothing but watching historical and neuroscience documentaries. She would like to dedicate this talk to her family, especially her parents, who have always supported her ambition and her quirks with love and enthusiasm. Caroline is currently writing a book about a teenager with Cystic Fibrosis. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
