César Franck (1822 -1890) was a French organist, composer, improviser, and professor who spent a large part of his life in Paris. Today, he is known for his infamous post as organist titulaire at Saint Clotilde in Paris, as well as his beautiful compositions. Recorded live at Evensong service at St. John's Episcopal Church, West Hartford, CT, Feb. 26 2023. Madison Thompson is a junior at Trinity College (Hartford) where she studies organ with Christopher Houlihan. Originally from Derby, CT, Madison became interested in the organ through her local church, and began organ study at age 14 with Dr. Noah Horn. She was a recipient of the 2019 New Haven American Guild of Organists Encore Organ Scholarship, earning funding for organ lessons and culminating in a year-end recital. At Trinity, Madison is a recipient of the John Rose Organ Scholarship, sings in The Chapel Singers, and serves as Assistant Chapel Organist. In addition to her roles at Trinity College, Madison serves as Organ Scholar at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hartford, CT under the direction of Dr. Gabriel Lofvall. Madison is also organist at Central Baptist Church in Hartford, and engages with many other churches in the Greater Hartford area as an accompanist or assistant on various occasions. She has performed organ in professional settings throughout Greater Hartford, New Haven, and in New York City. Most recently, Madison performed a short recital for the New Haven AGO’s annual dinner in June, Trinity College's Lunchtime series in November, and performed in a student recital at Dwight Chapel at Yale University as part of Yale Organ Week--a week-long intensive program for advanced undergraduate organ students from around the country. Madison studied with Nathan Laube, Martin Jean, James O’Donnell (masterclass), Jeannette Fishell, and Johnathan Moyer.
