#Hiking #karenabeltravel #Green cay wetlands Welcome everybody, we are hiking along a 1.5 mile elevated loop trail boardwalk in the man made Green Cay Wetlands located in Boynton Beach, Florida. The great Florida birding trail is a part of the wetlands so we will see herons, egrets, woodpeckers and other birds found here in Florida. This wetlands is so eco friendly and is a great place to come and hike the boardwalk trail for excercise. A short tour inside the nature center with history of how the wetlands were created and live animals will be a part of the video as well. We pass through 9 zones from the boardwalk trail like flag marsh, open water area, tropical hardwood hammock, prairie area, Cyprus hammock, cabbage palm hammock, emergent marsh, wetland hammock, and pond marsh. If you love Florida wildlife photography this wetlands will not disappoint. Entrance and parking is free. The wetlands opened in 2008 and was modeled after Wakodahatchee wetlands. There will be a short description of the kinds of plants that are important to the wetlands because they provide soil stability, food for the birds and filtration for the marshes.
