“Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial.” In this Christian sermon, we reflect on Jesus’ command in the Garden of Gethsemane and what it means for believers today. As Christ ascends the Mount of Olives to pray, He invites His disciples—and us—into deeper communion with the Father. Yet instead of watching and praying, the disciples fall asleep in their sorrow. Why does Jesus repeat the command to pray? Because prayer is the only way to endure the trials, temptations, and spiritual battles of this life. Drawing connections between Psalm 15, the prophet Samuel hearing the voice of God, and Christ’s agony in the garden, this message explores: • The importance of spiritual vigilance • How to discern the voice of God • The danger of spiritual slumber • Jesus as the spotless Lamb and perfect High Priest • Communion with God through prayer and the sacraments • Following Christ in obedience: “Not my will, but Yours be done” Even in His greatest anguish, Jesus shows us perfect communion with the Father. Through His victory over sin and death, we are invited to ascend the holy hill of prayer and abide in God’s presence. As we prepare to receive Christ’s body and blood, may we awaken from spiritual sleep, recognize His voice, and remain steadfast in prayer so that we may not enter into the time of trial. #GetUpAndPray, #WatchAndPray, #TimeOfTrial, #MountOfOlives, #AgonyInTheGarden, #GardenOfGethsemane, #ChristianSermon, #BiblicalPreaching, #PowerOfPrayer, #SpiritualAwakening, #StayAwake, #HolyHill, #Psalm15, #Samuel, #HearingGodsVoice, #Logos, #JesusChrist, #SpotlessLamb, #VictoryInChrist, #CommunionWithGod, #Eucharist, #Sacraments, #ChristianEncouragement, #LentenReflection, #CatholicHomily, #FaithInTrials, #ThyWillBeDone, #AscendTheHill, #PresenceOfGod
