Sacrifice: A homily for the Fifth Sunday of Epiphany

“Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial.” In this Christian sermon, we reflect on Jesus’ command in the Garden of Gethsemane and what it means for believers today. As Christ ascends the Mount of Olives to pray, He invites His disciples—and us—into deeper communion with the Father. Yet instead of watching and praying, the disciples fall asleep in their sorrow. Why does Jesus repeat the command to pray? Because prayer is the only way to endure the trials, temptations, and spiritual battles of this life.
