That is the question Eiji Aonuma and the team at Nintendo were faced with in 1999, and the result was one of the greatest departures ever seen in the Legend of Zelda series. Majora's Mask isn't a typical Legend of Zelda game; indeed, excepting the second entry in the series, it is by far the most unique game in the entire franchise - a black sheep as it were. Yet despite all its quirks, Majora's Mask is often heralded as one of the greatest entries in the entire Legend of Zelda series. Does this game deserve such an illustrious reputation?
