My session with Led at his garage resulted in the recording of three songs featuring his new d'Aigle autoharp. These songs purely by accident just happened to be the same three songs that opened his "Jus' Crusin'" CD that featured his autoharp stylings. This is the second of the three recordings, the Lili`uokalani classic, "Sanoe." This lovely piece is one we have recorded before as a guitar duet and it's a regular feature in Led's live shows. It's also one of my favorites of the Queen's compositions. Led's autoharp is, of course, in "standard" tuning, whatever that might be for an autoharp (grin). I'm playing my Martin OM-18V in taropatch open G tuning (D G D G B D from low pitch to hight). I used a pair of Shure KSM141 microphones in omni mode - omnidirectional mics are much less affected by wind noise compared to directional mics and the breeze is nearly always an issue on the windward side of O`ahu. We also plugged the d'Aigle autoharp pickup straight into the Zoom F6 recorder and mixed that along with the mic capture. I set up two Panasonic Lumix GH4 cameras to capture the video. I mixed the audio in REAPER before building the video using Edius 9.
