A gentle stroll from the picturesque norman village of Newport (Pembrokeshire) up to the summit of Mynydd Carningli which translates into english as Angel Rock mountain standing at 347m and is a SSSI within the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire. The hill is famed locally as being the home to Saint Brynach who is said to have communed with angels here - I will add the local hills are also known for their "Magic Mushrooms" so make of that what you will. The peak itself is a jumble of frost shattered volcanic rocks and the remains of 2000 year old Iron age defensive ramparts and stone walls. 4 miles with 1088 feet of elevation (Garmin 735xt) This was also a first outing for my new rucksack and was treated as a bit of a test run for longer days - I bought a Berghaus Ridgeback 65 +10 - the problem with walking outdoors and having 2 kids is the fact my bag often gets loaded with there kit and leaves little room for anything I fancied bringing along I will still use my smaller Osprey Skarab 35 but at least I have the option now.
