Winter Hiking in the Adirondack Mountains is truly exhilarating! Cascade and Porter are two of the shortest high peak hikes there are in the Adirondacks and let me tell you the views are mesmerizing! My Alarm Goes off Sunday Morning at 3 AM.. Check the summit Forecast, Check the Local Forecast.. Okay something is wrong. its showing -16 and -24 in the two local towns lol.. Okay we can do this right? We have hiked colder temps on different summits before.. We got the hand warmers shooken up at the car.. Car barely wanted to start. I felt so bad! Anyhow at the trailed it was -16. We were ready! 5:AM on the dot. 1 hour 15 min later we were looking up at the opening to the summit. We dropped our packs in treeline and started gearing up. The Gortex Jacket/ Face mask and Goggles.was all we needed to complete the gear up. At 625 we started walking out and up onto the bald summit. It was the usual for us on Cascade. Really really windy! But this time about -30 to -40 degrees! It was so windy and cold that my phone was acting a little glitchy in the footage i took. i tried to hold the camera as still as possible but the wind was so strong it really causes me and the phone to vibrate. You will notice some of the vibrations in the story! its hard to keep focus when the wind is trying to blow you over haha! We had an amazing sunrise and and amazing FULL snow moon with Venus Belt rapped around the sky! it was magic and im so glad i can share it with you! Hiking is my passion! then off to Porter! It was a Beautiful frosted and snow covered landscape on the way there! And great views of Cascade and the Great Range! This Completes 18/19 of out winter 46er round!
