What To Do If Peer-Review Is Taking Forever | 4 Strategies For Dealing With The Peer-Review Process Welcome To My Channel Navigating Academia Subscribe Here: https://cutt.ly/jVUF6Sg Hello There!👋 What do you do when you submitted your paper to an academic journal for peer review but then you essentially never hear back? In this episode of Navigating Academia, Dr. Singh discusses what to do when peer reviewing is taking forever. In this video, I'm going to go over 4 strategies for dealing with the sometimes very frustrating peer-review process. Strategy #1 - Contact the associate editor. I know you're afraid but remember one of the key themes of this series is that nobody is going to be as big of an advocate for your work as you are! Just make sure that you are tactful when you do this and at the same time use the rule of thumb of waiting at least six months. Be tactful in your communication especially email because email doesn't have any of the three channels of emotion. They're not hearing your voice, they're not seeing your facial expressions, and they're not encountering your gestures * Strategy #2 - Write to the editor or the associate editor (sometimes this can even be done via the online gate where you submitted the article) and ask them to pull the article from the journal and remove it from consideration in peer review. This could be an option if it's been a year to several years. (Nuclear Option) Strategy #3 - Submit the article to another journal for consideration at the same time. (I do not recommend this!)
