As homeowners and community members seek new and stronger pathways for connecting with the natural world, a key question is what they can plant and care for to bring local food to their backyard or neighborhood. Planting trees and shrubs that produce fruits and nuts can provide some local family and community food sources that provide multiple benefits. This session discussed the latest version of how "Growing Fruits and Nuts in the Home Landscape" addresses this appeal by providing a wealth of updated information in a concise fact sheet. Community food forests were also discussed. Fruit and nut producing plants familiar and new to Minnesota residents will be discussed as well as nurseries and other resources on this topic.
