Four friends set out on an overnight jet boat trip south of Anchorage, ready to explore new water for the very first time. What we didn’t expect was motor trouble and crashing into thick brush that forced us to grab the emergency paddles. We pushed through it all and set up camp in a massive glacial valley — the kind of place you can only reach by boat. That night, we lit a campfire on the riverbank and cooked wild game, surrounded by nothing but mountains, ice, and rushing water.
